Message from the Principal

Welcome to the website of Cheung Chuk Shan College! We are pleased to provide you here with a glimpse of the noble work of the School and the stimulating lives of our students.

Founded in 1969 by the Five Districts Business Welfare Association, we have been growing from strength to strength over the years with the tremendous support of different stakeholders in realizing the vision and mission of the School. We have now become one of the most popular schools in the district in spite of the small campus size and limited resources available.

Apart from pursuing academic excellence and striving to create an English-rich environment, we aim at promoting holistic growth of students. Emphasis is laid on the development of generic skills and moral values among students through inspiring pedagogy and carefully-designed value education programmes. Moreover, our professional and experienced teaching staff is devoted to providing a caring and supportive learning environment, which enables our students to unleash their potential to the full.

Notwithstanding the change of school leadership, we pledge that we will remain committed to our educational philosophy and we are looking forward to an opportunity to offer your child quality education, which will usher him / her along the path to a bright future.

Though formed long ago, the motto of our School – Competent, Conscientious, Studious, Creative – remains timeless and still guides effectively the endeavours of the School in developing our students into all-rounders.

While our students may get from such belief of the School the impression that they should try to attain lofty life targets, what they should concentrate on initially should be forging a proper attitude. As a member of Cheung Chuk Shan College, a student is expected to excel himself in a key developmental domain. No matter whether the student focuses on an academic or non-academic area, he is encouraged to apply himself to his work with the assistance provided and the impact of the ambience of the dynamic School. While strengthening the support to learning of students, we lay great emphasis on provision of quality other learning experiences and better amenities. We are also dedicated to nurturing our students into global citizens by offering cross-cultural experiences and equipping them with sound knowledge of the world. As a crucial stage of development in life, we hope the education we offer can especially implant in our students the notion of striving for the best and broaden their horizons. Such attributes can be competitive advantages for our students to navigate the challenges in an increasingly complex and intertwined world as well as pursue their aspirations besides ensuring they are poised to succeed in the 21st century.

With the support of different stakeholders, we are not alone in fostering a caring and positive environment for every student to be developed into a remarkable leader with academic excellence and exemplary character and, a globally-aware youth with strong moral principles. We would like to express our heartfelt thanks again to the stakeholders for partnering us in this meaningful journey to bring value-added learning experiences to our students. Moreover, we shall never be complacent about the progress made and shall instead embark on new initiatives in order to attain our dream.

This school year is going to be a crucial and memorable one for the CCSC family as it marks the Golden Jubilee of the School. Over the years, in spite of the challenges encountered and insufficient resources, we pride ourselves on the progress made in realizing our vision and mission. With full determination and conscientious efforts, we have been promoting the holistic growth of students, unlocking their potential and nurturing them to become leaders in their chosen fields with a global outlook. The approaching celebration activities will further help reach the targets by enhancing the confidence of students and polishing their generic skills.

While attention is devoted to celebration activities, we would launch another 3-year School Development Plan, which focuses on not only reinforcing the culture of active learning and nurturing a caring culture but also building stronger ties with alumni. We would try to entrust our students with a more active role in learning to help equip them better for future academic requirements. We also hope our students can develop concern not only for others but also the environment. In addition, in view of the need for various forms of support for the school development, we would try to build up a better network with our alumni. Though   looking ahead for 3 hectic years with demanding tasks, we are sure the work undertaken will make the school life of our students more rewarding and help us live up to our commitment to quality education.

More than 6 months have gone by since the coronavirus dealt a severe blow to the world. While HK people have to brave hardship and threats caused by the pandemic, our school has gone through a rough time offering emotional support to our students and also striving hard to keep their learning going in the face of long school closure and also such handicaps as lack of experience in carrying out e-Learning at home and diversity in the IT skills of teachers.

Life has not been easy for us, but the proverbial saying ‘every cloud has a silver lining’ once again applies. The ordeal has quickened the pace of reinforcing the habit of active learning of our students since they were requested to carry out self-learning themselves with the materials provided. We were elated to note that most students progressed well despite the unavailability of close guidance of teachers, and this self-learning ability would be a critical life skill for their future growth. On the other hand, the class suspension has induced our teachers to evolve their teaching strategies, which would enable them to embrace better the new directions in education. The collaborative culture among the teachers was also strengthened when they worked closely to plan as well as proactively handled the learning and personal problems of students. Hence, rest assured that the CCSC family will emerge from the crisis stronger and more capable of striving for excellence.
