Shall We Talk Open Performance was organized by the English Panel on 3 July 2019 as one of the post-exam activities of S3. Participants paid every effort to give gripping speeches on the stage. Some parents also came to support their children’s captivating and impressive performance.
The twelve finalists who presented their ideas were 3A Ching Tsz Yee Vanessa, 3A Lam Man Yu Chloe, 3A Or Chung Shing Orian, 3B Hung Yu San Eason, 3B Kwong Melissa, 3B Wong Hei Tung Shannon, 3C Chen Wing San Oscar, 3D Chen Hiu Yan Victoria, 3D Leung Yeuk Lam Eliz, 3D Ling Long Ho Victor, 3D Wan Tsz Tung Vanessa and 3D Zhang Chen Hugo. The event was a huge success.
Five S1 – S3 students participated in a 3-day study tour to Guangzhou organized by Creative Technology Education Association. They visited the meteorological satellite earth station in Guangzhou ands ome high-tech industrial plants such as companies manufacturing optical instruments, robots, self-driving cars and electric cars. They also carried out a biotechnological experiment on the extraction of Artemisinin and built a self-balancing car in collaboration with students in Guangzhou.
The assembly started with the Principal’s speech, in which he advised students to get well-prepared for the coming final examination. After that, an educational talk was given by two players from Hong Kong Beach Volleyball Team, Mr. Lau Tsz Ho and Mr. Wong Pui Lam, who joined 2018 Asian Games in Indonesia. The talk aimed at encouraging youngsters to develop a “Never Give Up” attitude. Afterwards, there were the annual dance performance by Dance Club and an introduction of the activities of the Hong Kong Young Ambassador Scheme.
During the four-day exchange programme, the participants from S4 classes took part in a variety of activities to see for themselves from multiple perspectives the cultural, economic and technological developments in Shanghai. Apart from visiting the fast growing enterprises in Shanghai, the participants also had the chance to explore various historical sites and engage in intercultural interactions with students from the East China Normal University.
8 S4 students participated in this voluntary teaching tour to Shaoguan, Guangdong. By teaching the students and having lessons with them, our students experienced first-hand what life is like in a local school in Mainland China.Our students also witnessed the desire of the local to learn, and in turn reflected on their own learning attitudes after the trip.
The project was introduced last year by the HK Police as a way to strengthen its connections with different secondary schools.The alumni of officer grades would contact their alma mater to explore enrichment opportunities for its current students. Our School has also joined the project. Apart from sport and music exchanges, there were also day camp activities and visits. Moreover, on 18 Apr 2019, 2 S5 students were invited to a high table dinner at the Police College in Aberdeen. The activity proved a valuable exposure to them. Besides a campus tour, they benefited immensely from the inspiring sharing and keynote speech of Professor Gabriel Leung, GBS, JP, Dean of Medicine of HKU. The students also knew more about key traditions and table manners of the high table dinner of the Police College.
In early April, 6 S4 students visited a mountain village in Shaoguan where they helped to build the house for a single mother with 2 young kids.
The house building project was launched by the Habitat for Humanity Hong Kong. The organization has been working on different kinds of projects which target to help low income families, the elderly and the physically-disabled by providing house building and repairing services.
The assembly started with the Principal’s speech, in which he encouraged students to develop multiple life skills and a proper mindset in order to cope with the rapid social changes. The final of the interschool Chinese Debate Invitational Tournament was held right after the prize presentation. Our Team was crowned champion owing to its wonderful performance.
The assembly started with the Principal’s speech, in which he shared with the students an online article about the experience of reducing carbo footprint and encourage them to take action to protect our environment. After that, the representative from the Hong Kong Eating Disorders Association introduced different types of eating disorder and promoted healthy eating and lifestyle. Lastly,Chan Ka Tsung, an S.5 student shared his experience of joining the Youth Football Development Scheme organized by Hong Kong Jockey Club. His visit to the Manchester United Football Club in England was especially fascinating.
The theme of the fashion design competition this year,organized by the Art Club, was Antiquity. Models wearing the elegant costumes walked confidently on the T-shaped runway, which was decorated by some lotus. Each design showed the creativity of our students. The ideas of the costumes came from epiphyllum, phoenix or a crossover of traditional costumes of Chinese and Western styles. The activity attracted a large audience and aroused their excitement. Apart from the top 3 prizes, there was also the Most Popular Awards, which was received by the group that obtained the largest number of votes from the audience.
The assembly started with the Principal’s speech, in which he urged students to set up targets and also keep learning a top priority despite participating in extra-curricular activities. Dr. Yu Ka Lung, Carrel, an alumnus was invited to give away the Medical Alumni Science Award and share his experiences of being a doctor. After that, members of English Debating Team staged a demonstration debate to the school. The assembly ended with a sharing session by those students who joined the overseas study tour to Australia in 2018 summer.
Apart from the Principal’s speech, the subject prizes, ECA Award, PTA Scholarships and CCSC Alumni Foundation Fund Awards for the year 2017-2018 were presented by the Principal and Chairman of the Foundation Fund. The assembly was followed by a series of wonderful Christmas programmes, which impressed the parents joining the function to celebrate the festival with us.
