The assembly started with the Principal’s speech, in which he shared with the students an online article about the experience of reducing carbo footprint and encourage them to take action to protect our environment. After that, the representative from the Hong Kong Eating Disorders Association introduced different types of eating disorder and promoted healthy eating and lifestyle. Lastly,Chan Ka Tsung, an S.5 student shared his experience of joining the Youth Football Development Scheme organized by Hong Kong Jockey Club. His visit to the Manchester United Football Club in England was especially fascinating.
The theme of the fashion design competition this year,organized by the Art Club, was Antiquity. Models wearing the elegant costumes walked confidently on the T-shaped runway, which was decorated by some lotus. Each design showed the creativity of our students. The ideas of the costumes came from epiphyllum, phoenix or a crossover of traditional costumes of Chinese and Western styles. The activity attracted a large audience and aroused their excitement. Apart from the top 3 prizes, there was also the Most Popular Awards, which was received by the group that obtained the largest number of votes from the audience.
The assembly started with the Principal’s speech, in which he urged students to set up targets and also keep learning a top priority despite participating in extra-curricular activities. Dr. Yu Ka Lung, Carrel, an alumnus was invited to give away the Medical Alumni Science Award and share his experiences of being a doctor. After that, members of English Debating Team staged a demonstration debate to the school. The assembly ended with a sharing session by those students who joined the overseas study tour to Australia in 2018 summer.
Apart from the Principal’s speech, the subject prizes, ECA Award, PTA Scholarships and CCSC Alumni Foundation Fund Awards for the year 2017-2018 were presented by the Principal and Chairman of the Foundation Fund. The assembly was followed by a series of wonderful Christmas programmes, which impressed the parents joining the function to celebrate the festival with us.
Held on 8 Dec 2018, 2 identical admission talks were each attended by more than 1,000 primary pupils and parents. The talks and the sharing of students, preceded by either an English musical or a joint performance of the Police Band and our School Band, enabled the participants to understand better our efforts to promote the holistic growth of students and the admission mechanism. The pupils and parents also visited the stalls of the Golden Jubilee Open Day and took part in different activities showing the features of our school and bringing enjoyable experiences.
We were honoured to have Mr. Au Chi Kwong, Sonny, PDSM, PMSM, JP, Acting Secretary for Security, as our Guest of Honour. Apart from presenting prizes and certificates, Mr. Au humbly shared with us his path to success and highlighted the four essential elements – Care, Commitment, Sacrifice and Change – to echo the name of our School and our school motto. Together with notables and parents joining us to share the joy, it was certainly a memorable event, especially to graduates and prize winners.
The charity walkathon organized by the Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital Charitable Trust was supported by some of the parents and students of our school. A total of $8820 was raised and our school was awarded the Most Active Participation Award. The String Orchestra of our school also performed in the carnival and was awarded a Certificate of Appreciation.
The activity offered another opportunity for parents and primary pupils to understand more about the school life of the secondary schools in the Eastern District. Our staff members, parent executive committee members of the PTA and student helpers answered different inquiries about the admission mechanism and features of CCSC. Parents and pupils were also encouraged to visit our School on the Golden Jubilee Open Day on 7 & 8 Dec 2018.
The assembly started with the Principal’s speech, in which he encouraged students to actively participate in the upcoming Open Day besides introducing the CCSC Alumni Foundation Fund and scholarships set up by the alumni. After all, the students participating in the study tours to Japan and Vietnam shared their experiences in the two places respectively.
13 S4 and S5 students went to Aero 320 HK, a flight training school to have a workplace visit. The visit aims at introducing the basic knowledge to the students who are interested in aviation industry. Every students were instructed by our alumnus, Nicholas Chung, who is working as a pilot to have a trial flight.
The Music Fiesta, organized by Music Association, was well received by all teachers and students.
Every class from S2 to S6 participated actively in the competition and demonstrated their creativity, class spirit and above all, music talents. Their vocal and dancing performances filled the School Hall up with laughter and applauses throughout the two weeks!
The winning classes of Senior Forms and Junior Forms are going to perform their amazing shows again at the Christmas Programme.
Besides the preparation of a booth for giving out the school prospectus and answering inquiries at the exhibition prepared by the Federation of PTA of HK Eastern District, our Principal was invited to deliver a talk to help the visitors understand the features and development of our School better. Parents and pupils flocked to our booth afterwards, asking questions ranging from the admission mechanism, learning support to activities offered.
