A full house attendance was recorded for the admission talk with over 1,000 primary pupils and their parents eager to know more about the school features and the admission mechanism. Before the talk, the visitors toured around designated spots of the School and took part in the activities prepared for them. This enabled them to understand better the work done by the School to promote the holistic growth of our students.

About 60 parents, students and teacher participated in the Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital (PYNEH) Charity Walkathon and Carnival 2017 for generating donations for improving the services of the hospital. In the walkathon, a donation of $7910 was collected from 30 families in our school. While the walkathon was going on, the string orchestra of our school had an outdoor performance in the carnival.

68 secondary schools nominated altogether 125 students to participate in the selection. It is encouraging to know that Yeung Tai Kiu (S5B) became one of the 10 Hong Kong Island Highly Commendable Students in the Senior Group in view of his pleasing performance during the 2 rounds of interviews. The award captured also offers him a chance to take part in an exchange tour to China during the coming summer vacation.

We were honoured to have Mr. Tang Wai Kong, Leslie, JP, Commissioner for Census and Statistics, as our Guest of Honour. Apart from presenting prizes and certificates, Mr. Tang illustrated to us the importance of statistics in daily lives through interesting stories. Besides, notables and parents also kindly joined us to share the joy. It was certainly a memorable event, especially to graduates and prize winners.

Besides announcing that Mr. Leung Sau Chi, BH, JP, second Principal and IMC Manager of our School, passed away on 8 Nov 2017, the Principal stressed in his speech the importance of the attitude of a student in improving his academic performance. The speech was followed by a S.T.E.M talk co-organized by MTR and Junior Achievement Hong Kong. Representatives from MTR introduced how MTR lines and stations were built. Also they shared how S.T.E.M. skills were applied in the process of making MTR stations environmentally sustainable, accessible to the community, and user friendly.

Life-wide Learning Day

Different activities at different destinations were arranged for students – orienteering and ‘Park Experience’ guided tour at HK Wetland Park (S1), adventure-based activity and on-site activity at PLK Jockey Club Tai Tong Holiday Camp (day camp) (S2), EDB Mainland Exchange Programme to Dongguan for Junior Secondary Students (S3), leadership training day camp at YMCA King’s Park Centenary Centre (S4), war game (S5) and class activities at various outdoor destinations (S6). The activities provided student-centred life-wide learning experiences which helped to promote the holistic growth of students.

Assembly 3

The assembly started with the Principal’s speech, in which he stressed the importance of keeping integrity and commitments to others. The Principal also highlighted different celebration activities of the upcoming 50th Anniversary. After all, the School Junior Choir presented a musical “The Sound of Music”. Lastly the students participating in the study tours to South Korea and Taiwan shared their experiences in the two places respectively.

Inter-School Swimming Competition

Our school team participated the Inter-School Swimming Competition at the Victoria Park Swimming Pool. It was held on the 13 & 19 Oct 2017. There were 35 schools to compete all the events.
 
We sent 33 swimmers to compete in the game, our C grade girls swimmers performed well in the game, won the 3rd runner-up in the 4x50m free style relay event.
 
Thanks for the efforts of our swimming team members.

Secondary Schools Exhibition

Organized by the Federation of PTA of Hong Kong Eastern District, the activity allowed the visitors to know more about the secondary schools of the district. A lot of them were eager to understand the admission mechanism and interview arrangements for applicants for S1 discretionary places as well as the development of our School.

33rd Annual Swimming Gala

Strong house spirit was witnessed again among the students as they cheered for the competitors of their Houses during the Swimming Gala. Yellow House captured both the Boys and Girls Championships as well as the Overall Championship, whereas Red House and Blue House got the First Runner-up and Second Runner-up respectively. We were much honoured to have Mr. Cheng Tat Hung Andy, a graduate of our school and elected member of the Eastern District Council to present the prizes and to share the joy with us.
