It was the last day of the school year. The Principal reviewed the performance of students in the final examination. Students also received advice on how to spend the summer holidays fruitfully. The assembly was followed by the Graduation Day, which was held to congratulate our S6 students on their completion of secondary school education and to say farewell to them.

The assembly started with the Principal’s speech, in which he showed appreciation to all students’ effort in capturing important prizes in external competitions.
The speech was followed by a presentation on the Hong Kong Young Ambassador Scheme. After that, students joining the overseas study trips and local exchange programme shared their experiences on and feelings about joining these activities. The sharing was then followed by a presentation on environmental protection with a short movie. The assembly ended with a dance performance, which was prepared by Dance Club for celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the School.

A demonstration match with mixed team members from the six participating schools – Cheung Chuk Shan College, Salesian English School, Sau Kei Wan Secondary School, St. Clare’s Girls’ School, St. Stephen Girls’ College and Wah Yan College, Hong Kong – was held to mark the end of the interschool Chinese Debate Invitational Tournament. The whole school was impressed by the skills and confidence of the debaters.

After the Principal’s speech and prize presentation, the four-time winner of the Asian Rock Climbing Championships, Mr. Lai Chi Wai shared his life journey and explained how he bounced back after becoming paraplegic in a tragic car accident. The assembly ended with a talk about AIDS Prevention organized by the Hong Kong Red Cross.

Macbeth

CCSC School Events 2017-18 Comments Off on Macbeth

The English Chanters gave a wonderful performance of a modern telling of the Shakespearean play “Macbeth” in the Hong Kong School Drama Festival 2017/18, which marked the launch of the English Carnival. The cautionary tale revolves around the deadly ambition of the lead character: Macbeth. The story takes place in a successful banking firm. Strange events start to unfold after the mysterious Banana Geniuses make an entrance. Parents of the cast were invited to attend the event and the audience was enchanted by the superb performance of the characters.

Fashion Design Competition

CCSC School Events 2017-18 Comments Off on Fashion Design Competition

The theme of the fashion design competition this year, organized by the Art Club, was Fairytale. 6 groups presented their designs on stage. Models wearing the splendid costumes walked confidently on the T-shaped runway, which was decorated by beautiful flowers. Each design showed the precious memories of the fairytales that the designer had read. The activity attracted a large audience and aroused their excitement. There were 4 prizes for this event: Overall Champion, 1st runner-up, 2nd runner-up and the Most Popular Award, which was received by the group that obtained the largest number of votes from the audience.

Junior Geography Field Trip to Tai O

The Geography & Conservancy Society organised a junior field trip to Tai O on 10 March. 21 S1 to S3 students enjoyed an orienteering game and a guided tour to learn about the mangrove ecosystem and the culture of this fishing village. When returning to Tung Chung by ferry, students were also able to take a glimpse of the Chinese White Dolphins swimming under the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge.

The assembly started with the Principal’s speech. In the speech, the Principal recommended the book “Grinding It out The Making of McDonald’s”, which offered useful tips on how to become successful in our lives. The speech was followed by a careers talk delivered by an alumnus, Mr. Hui Yiu Pun, a 2001 S7 graduate. In his talk, he shared his experience of facing adversity, encouraging students to set a clear goal for their future. The assembly ended with another talk about the healthy sitting posture and lifestyle.

Different kinds of activities were arranged for students of different levels, for example, sport demonstration, STEM activity, life planning activity, CUHK business lecture, sex education talk, career talk, ICAC drama and inter-house sports competitions. The activities not only were greatly entertaining to the audience but also helped to promote the holistic growth of students.

Apart from the Principal’s speech, the subject prizes, ECA & Service Honour Awards, PTA Scholarships and CCSC Alumni Foundation Fund Awards for the year 2016-2017 were presented by the Principal and Chairman of the Foundation Fund. The assembly was followed by a series of wonderful Christmas programmes.

To celebrate the festive season, different performances were arranged in the Christmas Programme – performance of Junior Choir and String Orchestra, Advertisement Design Competition Performance from 3B and 3D and Music Fiesta Performance from 3C and 6D. Some students were also the lucky ones who won gifts drawn by our Principal, Vice-principals and teachers in the lucky draw.

Music Fiesta

CCSC School Events 2017-18 Comments Off on Music Fiesta

The Music Fiesta, organized by Music Association, was fully supported by all teachers and students.

All classes from S1 to S6 participated in the competition and demonstrated their creativity, collaboration and above all, music talents. Their vocal and dancing performances filled the School Hall with laughter and music throughout the two weeks!

The winning classes of Senior Forms and Junior Forms are going to perform their wonderful shows again at the Christmas Programme.
